What does it mean to be a Good Samaritan?

A Good Samaritan is basically defined as compassionate individual who comes to the aid of others, usually in an emergency and especially when the individual is a stranger.

Good Samaritan laws were created to encourage people to help others and generally provide basic legal protection for those who assist a person who is injured or in danger. In essence, these laws protect the “Good Samaritan” from liability if unintended consequences result from their assistance.
